The Final Chapter Poem by Joyce Hemsley

The Final Chapter

Softly, softly, treat me gently
for I am old, and memories dim.
In the twilight of each evening
gloom and sadness enter in.

How I loved you through the ages
we were young and hit the heights,
no two loved as we both loved
Oh, those heavenly starry nights.

Softly now, and sentimentally
cry upon my shoulder dear,
you are the only one I live for...
and the end, it draweth near.

But secretly and silently
we will fall in love again,
another place ~ another time
in the final chapter I'll see your name.
