The Final Prayer Poem by Kevin Averett

The Final Prayer

Dear God in heaven, so contrite
Ultimate of truth and light
while I pray with all my might
I ask deliverance from my plight.
Forgive me for I haven't quite
the strength to carry on the fight
which for so long I felt was right
my brightest day remains the night.
So help me Lord to have the sight
to see once more thy robes of white
and feel no other mentor'd bite
like those which bind me now so tight.
Replace depression with delight
give guidance to my spirit's flight
allow me to obtain a height
above the one I leave tonight.
