The Fire Poem by Jack Nelson

The Fire

The sky filled with fire
Breathing in the smoke,
The situation was dire
My mind almost broke
I could taste the coal
It tasted oh so dull
I felt the wind, blowing my coat
As it blew away the burning boat
It refreshed me like never before
As the ship dropped from oar to oar
The ship was an oiler no mast to be found
I could feel the sailor's writhing yet still bound
I could feel their pain, more than you could know
But alas It finally started to snow.
