The Fires Are Burning Poem by Kevin Carney

The Fires Are Burning

The fires are burning…
The white heat has blown me away.
Winds are on the horizon…
The rains of indecision are going to come.
Darkness falls.
My eyes are blinded…
By all that I want to see.
So far away I feel…
I want to reach out and touch you.
Only to know you’ll pull away…
Feeling empty air…
Cold chills I feel.
My dear,
look at us we are so uncontrolled…
In and out of each others lives.
Falling back to each other in times of upheaval…
It seems neither of us could let go…
