The Forgotten Homeboy Poem by Mia Yanez

The Forgotten Homeboy

Rating: 5.0

This goes to all my homeboys...

Being locked up involves long loney nights
Its waiting on letters that nobody writes
Its waiting on visits that never take place
From so-called friends who forgot your face
Its wondering how time could move so slow
When prayers are answered, and the answer are, NO
Its sitting around with nothing to do
Trying to figure out whos really who
Its depending on people you thought were your friends
Waiting on pictures that nobody sends
Its learning that brotherhood is something thats dying
Whem they say youre one of thier own you know theyre lying
Its finding out some have hearts made of stone
And coming to realize that youre all alone
But im doing this time with my head held high
Im keeping my pride until the day that i die
Because one of these days, I too, will be free
And think twice my 'friends' when you need me
