I walk along the lost and faint track covered in dirt and stones,
More animals than people use the forgotten trail,
Small flowers swish at my feet, little fireworks of colour pop beside me,
Bright sky blues and sunset oranges, rose reds and sun yellow wild flowers dance around me,
Little mushrooms hide tucked away in the shadows of towering trees, pale brown and red with little white dots,
Light green foliage shines in the sun that peaks through, while next to it dark leaves shiver in the shadows,
Tall trunks of trees surround me making me feel small and insignificant compared to the forest,
Sounds of animals prancing around me, following me, watching me,
I'm something new and unfamiliar, deer prance around me curious and careful,
The silent crouch of wolves and coyotes follow me stalking slow and predicting,
Little skitters of mice and squirrels around me, hiding behind the mushrooms and ferns,
Flaps of birds little and big lead in front of me disturbing the air leaving behind little gusts of wind,
The sounds of a crashing waterfall fill my ears drowning out the forest and it's occupants,
I break through the forest in front of the waterfall, light blues mixing with darks, white foam bubbles around the fallen water,
Rocks covered with moss surround the small lake, harboring ducks and waterfowl,
I breathe in and out finally drowning out the thoughts and voices that follow me,
I stay there for minutes or years I'm not sure, staring at the falling, falling water,
Listening to the muffled sounds of the forest behind me,
I followed the forgotten trail.
