The Founding Of The Self.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Founding Of The Self....

things don't bother me
i've been in a nightmare of
labyrinths
from one closed door to
another door that opens
into another landscape and
after a few days i finally
found myself outside with
my old self waiting and
the two finally meet in a
tight embrace

now it is a party of two selves
finally becoming one and this
is the happiness that this body
had long waited for

this is the landscape of paradise
white sandy shores
lush coconut palms some
cockatoos and grilled fish and
ukulele playing as some native
women sway for the dance and
men drink their coco wine and
children play hide and seek

the dark night comes and the
wood that we filed is set on fire
and we dance around it and
we we shout our joys to the full moon.
