The Future Poem by Patrick O'Reilly

The Future

Love of mine
The city’s lights are fading fast
But the buildings are growing right before our eyes
The music is getting louder,
Faster,
Pouring through the windows
And pounding through the floor
And on the warehouse floor.

Work sucks the life out of you, it’s true,
And someday the aches and pains will kill us off
But we still have a lot of living left to do
And right now you’re a love of mine.
