The Gallows I Built Poem by Tim Vallie

The Gallows I Built

Walking towards the gallows
Built by my own hands
The grave they dug so shallow
Was dug by my own command
The noose sways in the breeze
It’s the rope from my own shed
I fall down on my knees
As they slip the noose over my head
