The Gambler And Loser Poem by Ray Hansell

The Gambler And Loser

Lately I have fallen
Further than I've ever fallen before
But this time I don't believe
That I can get up off the floor

If it weren't for bad luck
I'd be living on easy street
But that never happened
For all I've known is defeat

When I held the cards in my hands
Lady luck was never near
I hope at least just one time
For me she shed a tear

Everything I've ever owned
Was lost in card games
The saddest thing of all
Is that I never felt any shame

I lost my home
I lost my wife
The only thing left to lose
Sadly is my life

With the money thatI've lost
Along with the people that I owe
This lifetime of gambling
Is a life I wish I didn't know
