The Garden Poem by Lorene Kinsey

The Garden

“Look at my garden, ”
he insisted.
Peppers, lilies (my favorite)
and tomatoes (the greatest)
I made this garden for Shelly
she also loves tomatoes the best.
Remember the garden
I made for you
when you were
just her size?
She’s got your curly, blond hair
and oh, so brilliant eyes.
And when she plays
I think some days
when you were a little girl
oh, how you laughed
and how you played
you meant, to me
the world.
And look at Shelly,
so much like you
She isn’t mine,
but she’s my world too.
