The Gem 'n I Poem by Ferguson Parker

The Gem 'n I

Always unspoken, but always so true.
Always knew the roads would lead back to you.
Always believed that if I just followed through,
you'd follow suit, and fall in love too.
Honest to a fault, except with myself.
Swallowed my pride, played the hand that was dealt,
figured it out, didn't need any help—
it's funny how life finds a way of fixing itself.
She's a perfect ten, damn near an eleven,
the type of beauty descended from Heaven.
The kind of love that'll teach ya a lesson,
a girl who shines with diamonds in her eye—
one day, it'll be just the Gem 'n I.
Late nights and early mornings weigh in her heavy sighs.
She's so much more than all the tears she cries.
She's the type that comes around just once in a lifetime,
she deserves the world, the sun, the stars, and the skies.
Every quiet gesture, every heartfelt measure,
everything she does to make sure I see her try—
she's my greatest treasure, my greatest source of pleasure.
One day, it'll be just the Gem 'n I.
She's a perfect ten, damn near an eleven,
the type of beauty descended from Heaven.
The kind of love that'll teach ya a lesson,
a girl who shines with diamonds in her eye—
one day, it'll be just the Gem 'n I.
