The Gentler Path Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Gentler Path

To stand up tall and feel your worth,
You must be master of your mind.
Hold back the anger, calm the spark,
And leave the harshness far behind.

To see the value in a friend,
You must be willing just to bend.
A quiet heart, a gentle way,
Will guide you through the longest day.

When you can rule your own desire,
And keep your spirit soft and small,
You build a fire that gives off light,
And earn the respect of one and all.

To hold the reins within your hand,
Is how you learn to firmly stand.
When tempers rise and shadows grow,
You choose the gentler path to go.

With quiet heart and open mind,
You seek the good that you can find.
To lower pride and bend the knee,
Is how you set your spirit free.

For when you master your own way,
And keep the selfish thoughts at bay,
You learn to honor every soul,
And find the path to make you whole.
