The Ghost Of You Poem by Natasha Dowdy

The Ghost Of You

I felt you close by
Looking
Not wanting to be seen

I closed my eyes
Hoping I was wrong
But you lingered too long
The scent of you came to me on the wind

My heart raced
Like always in your presence
The butterflies emerged from their sleeping cacoons
Dancing in my stomach

I closed my eyes
Wishing this feeling away

Oh, but to touch you just once more
My fingers tingled with excitement at the mere thought
My lips longed for your warm mouth
Forever waiting

I closed my eyes
The cool breeze softly caressing my face
I knew you were gone...again

But I had been touched
By the ghost of you.
