The Gift Of No Support Poem by Sakura Light

The Gift Of No Support

Straight A's, perfect scores on every report card
To me, no assignment ever seems too hard
I'm known as the kid destined for an Ivy
Teachers and students all think of me highly

Since school started I've realized how happy everyone seems
How no one seems to be struggling as much as me

And over time I begin to tell myself 'they'll ask how I am someday'
But that ‘someday' never came
I realize that they don't care about me
Not nearly as much as I do them

They ask me why I don't tell them anything
But when I try to speak they don't listen
They say they care about me
But when I open up they make me feel invisible
Eventually, whatever I did, it was never enough for them
So I stopped trying

Embarrassing D's, disappointing scores on every report card
To me, every assignment seems hard
I'm known as the kid destined for failure
Teachers, parents, and students all think of me as pointless
