The Girl And The Flower Poem by Dani Everett

The Girl And The Flower

Rating: 4.0

A young girl locked in a tower.
With one little flower to hold.
With hope that she would unfold.
And, turn into the beautiful girl she longed to be.

Through the four seasons of the year,
Her dear knight, still hasn’t come near,
Each night she shed a tear, and,
Each day she grew weaker with fear, that,
Her dear knight would never come near.

The young girl lies on her single bed,
With her head in the center of the pillow,
In hand, she holds her one little flower,
And, dreams of her beloved knight, and,
Her life to take its first flight.

She opens her eyes to see nothing, but,
The sunlight, till, her eyes start to fill with water,
She cries with fear and fright, that,
It will always be this way,
The rest of her life.

The young girl began to loose all hope in her dear knight,
But, her little flower kept her through the knight.

Mad and frustrated.
She just gave up,
Till she heard the clatter of horse hooves,
She looked up, and stuck her head out the window,
She saw a knight on a snow white horse.

In her head she said,
“he cant be mine,
I have been here for far too much time,
No one wants me, and, no one ever will,
But, I would kill for a family of my own.”
So, she gave a moan, and lied down on her bed,
Still as death.

She heard the door of her tower swing open,
She jumped with fright, but, no one was in sight,
Till the door of her room slowly opened,
She stood there in fear.

A man in armor walked in,
He said, “my dear lady, I have come for thee,
Beautiful maiden, take my hand, and, follow me.
This ring you see, is for you.”

He than got down on one knee and said,
“My dear lady, marry me, I promise you,
you will once again be happy.”

Without thought she quickly answered yes,
She grabbed her little flower, and, her knights hand,
Down the stares they flew, and, out of her tower they went.

Before she knew it,
Her life had taken its first flight. And,
She ought to be married before the next night.

Her wedding day was here, and,
She was no longer in fear.
When she looked in the mirror,
She had blossomed into that beautiful girl she longed to be.

Free at last, she walked up to the altar,
Dressed in a long white gown,
That, followed her down the isle.
In her hands she held a bouquet of roses,
Including her little flower she had at the tower.

At last she was married, and,
Her knight carried her out the church, and,
She was going to live the life she always wanted.

Her dreams had come true,
She was happy at last,
The past was gone, and,
Her future was ahead.
She held her knights hand, and,
Her little flower in the other.
And, never again, would she go back, to that dreadful tower.
