The Girl In Room 22 Poem by Skylynn Gonzales

The Girl In Room 22

A girl I used to know chose to take her life
In the girls bathroom she cut with a knife
blood started to drip,
whimpering, she bit her lip
struggling to fight back the pain
blood surrounding the knifes tip..
She covered up her wrists and headed back to class
her teacher warned her about a test,
she knew she wouldn't pass.
she packed up her things and left the room last
and rushed home to her room
to get it over with fast
she went into the cabinets and grabbed a pack of pills
she sat in the bath tub in the water that she filled
She grabbed her knife and continued to slice
not once, but twice
Blood surrounded her body, so pure
She knew it'd all be over soon, she was sure
One by one she swallowed a pill
5 minutes later she was feeling kind of ill
she slowly closed her eyes
and fell fast asleep
cuts all over her body,
deep
Slowly, memories were fading and
so was she
But she was happy,
she was finally free
She was an unhappy soul
lurking with pain
I bet the only A+ she would give
was the blood type in her veins
Now I sit next to Casper in room 22
all alone with nothing to do.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My friend in math class took her life. None of us knew she was struggling. I pretty much summed up what happened to her in this poem. Hope you enjoy!
