The Good Mother Poem by Francis Duggan

The Good Mother

The good mother does not raise her child to plunder and to kill
But to live as a good person live and never do others ill
And that her daughter and son be successful is every mother's dream
But not everything in life does go to plan at least that's how it does seem
Some mothers disappointed at their children's lack of success
Still their children are their children and they love them none-the-less
Yet of human beings and human ways so much to learn and know
And so much for human beings to learn of life in seventy years or so
In the average life span of a human being and time ticks on and on
And on looking back the memory lane we sigh for our prime years long gone
The good mother only raise her child to for self and humanity do some good
And to her offspring she passes on her good values her role in Motherhood
The good mother only raises her child to do good for self and human kind
And in every good mother of the World a caring heart you'll find.
