The Graveyard Poem by Lydia Proffitt

The Graveyard

Rating: 5.0

I began to drive by a graveyard, today.
Not one, unordinary or out of the way.
It's one, I drive by, everyday.
I have never paused to stop and reflect,
of the precious souls who lay in neglect.
But, today, my mind was in a different sect.
So, I stopped and studied with some regret.
How cold and callous, have I become,
to feel my life more worthy then those who have gone.
Today, I cried, when I began to pass by,
to think our earthly final destiny,
would not bring tears to my own eyes.
Although, these souls, I know not,
there will be a day,
when they purely embrace my very thought.
How sweet it will be,
to know them when,
our love and motives are without sin.
Be thankful for the breath you take,
for you still have time,
to love and create,
a beautiful life,
for our Savior's sake.
