The Gray Wildflower Poem by Tiffany Koch

The Gray Wildflower

The gray cat is riding a hades high tide on the dreary river stix

A humor grows colder and fails to yield the formerly fragrant earthen effulgence of wildflowers

Widely giving way to the hedges of marsh grass and lungfish

Born lowly to develop an arid harvest

To marvel the nature of fire itself

The air eaters enchanted off to spectacular heights

Watching the smoke disappear into their nascent hunger

They smile like cheshire cats reborn to beg underfoot

Hence my lover's own hand, or perhaps mine own

At the feeding counter of canned delights

At their home, a hideout is a guaranteed fortune, but facing the things you're scared of

With curiosity, can serve you

Freshly opened

So riveting and spectacular

For the drooling, lolling, labor, licking off their dirty fingers
