The Great Horizon Poem by Subhadip Bhattacharya

The Great Horizon

Standing on a highrise, looking down below
The midday sun shining on
The life below. On the roads, tops of buildings
Reflecting water, fields, greenery..
And a strange sickness, sickness,
Not just sickness but homesickness
That grips my heart and my eyes.

The reflected colour white that
Streams through my dilated pupils
My colour famished pupils
Waiting for red, green and blue
Finds grey and white and reflected
Light and the horizon says
Someday I am going to die too.....

Grasp the light. Grasp the light.
Makes me energetic. Makes me famous.
Makes one out of two.
Makes colours,makes trees
Makes a staircase up to heaven
Red, green and blue.
And like swimming in thin air
I float over the blue.
