The Great Silence.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Great Silence....

Love's power is unpredictable.
where in the heaven's did you find
it? experience is asking and hate
is always thinking outside
the arms of tolerance.

it is indifference on the other
hand that keeps waiving us away
from the docking shores.

tell me, tell me, have you ever
loved truly ever before? was it not
just a matter of convenience and
conformity? Was it more of your
compromise to the norms of what
they call humanity?

the faces of love are more that
the cut of the diamonds, the sides
are myriad and the glitter from far
is more than a thousand stars.

it is inside, it is inside this
weeping heart that love keeps its
residence. There is the time for
its fullness when it refuses to
give room for whatever.

ah, do not speak when the mouth
of your heart is full, Do not ever
speak to me again, for i know,
too, what happiness was.

here i am sailing for another
island, though not leaving a home.
here i am, reminiscing what you
were to me.

here i am belonging to no one.
touching no one, looking beyond
all these walls and spaces, still
thirsting for that drop of
eternity.

Oh my God! the self is praying,
Speak to me, Oh my God, and fill me
with the soothing words of your
great silence.
