The Hands Of Midas Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Hands Of Midas

it is this desire
that settles outside the fence
it can get in there
and proclaim itself
he can dare
he'd done it
once twice
but he cannot do it
this time

in all those times
when he tried
when he achieved it
not one of them
has told him honestly
that they were
happy

it was more of giving in
because of pity
it is set temporarily
because it said situation
eternity is a mockery

it is the hands of Midas now
what he touches because he loves
shall turn into stone.
