The Hollywood Ending Poem by Laurence Overmire

is always upbeat
nothing depressing or upsetting
or unsettling to make living
even harder than it is

people won't pay money for that

so let's say you, dear reader, are the writer
now
look into the future and what
do you see?
for yourself, your children
your grandchildren?

the ending is up to you

good or bad, happy or sad
you've always been the creator
of your own destiny
haven't you?
so take courage and have at it!
but be sure to take off

your sunglasses

and really enjoy that spectacular sunset
before the credits roll -
the fleeting moment, after all
can never be recaptured.
