The Hour Poem by Ragy Sandid

The Hour

It’s the darkest hour
Before the dawn
A black hole to devour
All that’s sown

It’s time for thoughts
And memories to mingle
No decisions to be fought
And no remorse to linger

Why is it at this time
Every single next moment
There seems to be a crime
That warrants atonement

I, like many, didn’t engineer
The blueprints and design
I didn’t want to live in fear
That the next worst things I would sign

Now that I’ve lived some life
Why is it that I shouldn’t die?
I’ve given all I had to give
Is the rest a rest or the rest a lie?

Now that I’ve helped hate myself
And others seemed to join in
The ones who love to hate themselves
And ones who hate to admit it’s a sin

It’s the darkest hour, there’s light
But it can’t be seen even in the day
If only the heart can emit its might
And collect from the sun just one ray
