The Ice That Burns Poem by Rubaba Mmahajia Rahma Sabtiu

The Ice That Burns

In my eyes is a tear
A mixture of pain and fear
In my mind
A surprise of a kind
The rules are layed
Yet we have swayed
The ice was cold
In my hands I could not hold
Then it became hot
Like boiling water from a pot
The ice now burns
My stomach it turns
Our rule, the Qur’an
The tool for our imaan
A weird path we have chosen
A strange language we have spoken
When will we hold onto the rope?
As I look I see hope
But when will we return?
How will we show concern?
For a way of life ordained
For greatness of purpose to be attained
Somehow! Sometime! Somewhere!
