The Importance Of Context Poem by isabeau posey

The Importance Of Context

A bare floor dampened by tears of the sky;
they awoke a monster as old as time.

An earthy scent beckoned wildly to the gelatinous beast,
leading it toward the entities on which it would feast.

It's wiry tendrils reached out towards the scent,
who's central source would rather not have lent.

The grey fleshed monster heaved itself up toward it's prey,
dreaming hazily of the green flesh it would flay.

Rasping through the single hole in it's side,
the creature left a trail of lucid slime.

It's bulbous eye locked upon the victim,
who sat there mildly, pristine, not near vindictive.

It closed in on the oblivious green- saw fanged jaws extended-
with hunger they gleamed.

Here we reveal, the context of the scene,
a slug eating a leaf, in a non-chalant means.
