The Indefatigable Creed 2 (Beloved Honey Badger Is A Creed, A People) Poem by Emeka GOC

The Indefatigable Creed 2 (Beloved Honey Badger Is A Creed, A People)

The Indefatigable Creed 2

(Beloved Honey Badger is a creed, a people)

From the Sahel savannas to the moody rainforest Africa,
The Ratel walks the harshness of the earth
Sometimes, found as dried cottage in the dust of Sahel
A stocky, powerful masculine in disguise,
He was the first to reach the American soil
He is forged by the rough terrain that gave it birth.
Gone through slavery, colonization, selected and targeted
Even killed by sniper, the eliminator of African leaders
Still, resiliently he stands. He is still standing.

Cloaked in jet‑black night and a silver mantle,
A stark white stripe from head to tail,
They derogatorily call him by the 'N' word
He moves on short, iron legs with razor claws;
Beauty was classified on slim, long legs and fragile frame
To eliminate his place in the game, He endured.
Against its wrath, even the fiercest predators fail.
Today, artificially seek tick lips, big backsides and toned body.
We are just observing the beautiful new trends.

He survived a thousand year of Arabs slavery
Today, Arab never denounced it's actions or apologised
Not even recognising the inhuman vices, heinous crime
And the shame of never ever discredited slavery.
They are coming back with the baptism of a new religion
Indoctrinating, the youth to become their new army
The soldiers of the another foreign gods to Africa
Religion has proved to be our weakest point
Therefore, turning to religion is a religious point.

They call it Honey Badger for a sweetness it ignores
For it is larvae, not gold, that it craves.
A millions of African men, castrated and laid waste,
Used as slaves and pawns unable to be men again
Became outlaw of nature that never misbehaves?
Where are the millions taken to Arabs to retain?
Where are their descendants even just Ten percent of lives? ? ?

The report of the history book keeper's of lives and hives
Stated, black owned and lived from Tunisia, Morocco to Egypt
Thorough the Mesopotamia to present day Israel
Where are their armour? Where are its black skins?
Where are the tick lips and broad shoulders big noses?
Where are the remnants of Africa in all Asia?

Their strong thick, unyielding, tough, skins
That are impervious to arrows, spears, and stings.
Why are their descendants fairer than the fathers?
Or where are their descendants, their heritages
Strong enough to survive, lions, snakes, black scorpions
Like brother Sampson, thwarted even a lion's jaws
Twisting around and tamed the king cobra
And lavishly, feasted on the cobra for a dinner.
Where are these black men? ? ?

They were great farmer, clever hunter waking with the dusk,
Business leader, shrewd enough to block a burrow's door,
Shrugs off venom from the deadliest scorpions and snakes,
Feasts on poison reptiles and massive mammals that looked unsurmountable
African, they sat down and saw beyond the stars
Not predators, but welcoming creed that looks around for more
You are fierce, tenacious terror of the hill
Yet when the hunt is done and the belly full,
Hasten) ly, somersaulting through grass and plays with herbs and stones,
A joyful people, a sweet spirit in an aggressive world
Africa is still a joyful people, a sweet spirit.

For in the wild, vast territory aggression is only half the tale
The other half is resilience, unyielding determination,
This unbreakable power of badger creed is epitomised by the Igbos.
A people that stands, survives, where others fall,
Igbos have takes the sting, the strike, the bite of Nigeria.
The hateful plots, the stigmatisation and stereotypical
From South African, Ghana and same vibes from other nations
Igbos answers with will, wit, and unstoppable speed.
We answer with love, leadership and exemplified guidance
The Badger is Africa, epitomised on that one IGBO man.

This is the Honey Badger; the Igbo man
This unbreakable power of badger creed of Igbos
The indefatigable, the relentless, and the free
A reminder, we are chiselled, carved in for the ferocity
Build with strength not size, but tenacity
Courageous is not beauty, but dignity
Survival belongs to those who refuse to bow.
There are those coming to bow
We are here to leader, the team
Africa is still a joyful people, a sweet spirit team.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
‘The Indefatigable Creed 2' is a powerful, highly political allegorical poem that uses the imagery of the honey badger (Ratel) to symbolize the historical resilience, suffering, and survival of Black Africans, culminating in a specific tribute to the Igbo people of Nigeria. It transitions from a critique of global historical atrocities—specifically the trans-Saharan (Arab) slave trade and Western colonization—into an assertive celebration of modern African identity, tenacity, and joy.
