The Insider
On a rain-swept night,
when the world was void and sullen,
the heavens poured their music—
each crashing note,
each rising, frothing melody,
a white hieroglyph unfolding
upon the mirror of the sea.
I murmured of the storm's fierce power,
while my inward eyes became
the ears of my heart.
And in time, the music echoing
from the outer dark
found its answer within—
surging into melodies
my heart alone could see.
Then came the dawning—
a day awakening,
joyful in its being.
The music spoke in silence.
All caution spent,
the Insider revealed himself—
not as a stranger,
but as the One
who had always been there.
And I awoke,
never to sleep again,
listening
for His voice.
