The Invisible Thief Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Invisible Thief

Fatigue, a shadow, unseen and deep,
A silent enemy that steals your sleep.
It clings to you, a heavy weight,
Leaving you tired, early and late.

After a stroke, it takes its hold,
A story often, sadly told.
Your energy, a fragile thing,
Makes daily tasks a weary swing.

A simple walk, a friendly call,
Can leave you drained, about to fall.
The world expects, but you can't give,
The life you knew, you can't relive.

You sleep and sleep, but find no rest,
A constant battle, put to the test.
It comes and goes, without a sign,
Leaving you helpless, in a bind.

So how to fight this hidden foe?
Let patience gently help you grow.
Prioritize what matters most,
And let the less important things go.

Accept the help that's offered near,
Release the guilt, and quell the fear.
Plan your day with gentle grace,
And find your strength in time and space.

Listen closely to your body's plea,
Rest when needed, be truly free.
Talk about it, share your pain,
You're not alone, again, again.

For family, friends, and those who care,
Understand the load they unwillingy bear.
Be patient, kind, and lend a hand,
Help them reclaim their promised land.

Remember this, fatigue's a fight,
But hope remains, a guiding light.
With gentle steps and steady pace,
You'll find your strength, and find your grace.
