The Journey Poem by david e golledge

The Journey

Travelling lines
of white and grey,
following the global
asphalt highway
and I know you
imagine me
surrounded by flowers.

Occasional blue signs
reveal distance
and place,
but could not
contain the map
of your face
or stretch to breaking
the union between us.

Kilometers roll by
with each turn
of each wheel.

The further
I become
the closer I feel.
