The Journey For Each Poem by Trevor Toews

The Journey For Each

One thing to note,
There’s many more than one way
To get to the same place
It all depends on where you start
And it’s a journey, not a race

I was going to the airport
Naturally I chose the shortest route
The drive gave me this to think about.
At first, I was alone, the road unpaved,
Then other travelers fell into line
Some ahead, and some behind.
I noticed when I got to Highway 108
Another came from the other side
He turned left, and I turned right, and we were unified.
And as we approached the place where we were going
People from every county joined and we progressed
But we were all from the area to the west.
What really made me understand this lesson
Was when I arrived and found that it was true
There were travelers from the east there, too
And so, the journey for each is different, the way to go
It all depends on where you’re starting
And also on when your flight will be departing.
