The Lady Had Lilacs Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Lady Had Lilacs

One thing about spring that I love
Are flowers that make the first appearance
They are so welcome after a dreary winter
As nature takes a sweet colorful stance

The Lilac is one of the most beautiful
And one of the most fragrant of them
You can cut bouquets for the table
As they have a sturdy tree-like stem

I must tell you about a dear lady
Who enjoys her Lilacs so much
She has shades of lavender and pink
She’s got that special ‘growing’ touch

They blend so well with other flowers
So you can combine them in a vase
Your neighbors will love them also
So grow plenty of them just in case

As soon as you go into the yard
The fragrance of those lilacs hit
There’s nothing like going outside
Find a place to enjoy them while you sit

So lady, I just love your lilacs
And as past your yard I may walk
If I have the privilege to see you
We will have such a warm pleasant talk!
