The Land Of Moses! Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

The Land Of Moses!

They settle with a settlement
With no roof safe
When the Jewish settlement
At God's command and will
Usurp and wipe out Palestinians
From the west Bank
And from the small Gaza strip
Emptying city of Hebron
Of the Palestinians
With no space on the hill tops
East of Jerusalem
With magnificent vision
Down to Jericho,
The dry slopes of west Bank
And to the ridges of Dead Sea
The olive trees dropp tears
In the morning dew
As if it weeps for the hapless
Voiceless silent sufferings
Of the masses, the descendants of Abraham!
The world turned mute
That moot no solace
Dried up with no mercy in heart
As the Jews moved around
As a callous street walker
With daggers under armpits
To stab whom and when
To stab an innocent
To kill with one and only one stab
And to kill a wrong man
Where the dagger slips to his heart.
As if a mistake
On a mistaken identity.
Yet the Jews chant:
Adonai shalom
Eli, Eli, Elu
Barukh Ata adonai
Qadash, Qadash.
Lord, peace
My God, blessed is the Lord
Holy, lord of Hosts!
Yet, the Jews chant
With no meaning
They keep the blood dripping dagger
Yet in the hand!
