The Last Night Poem by Soumya Sasi

The Last Night

I wish I could be a singer for today,
I would have sung the saddest song ever heard,
I wish I could be a poet for a day,
I would have written those saddest lines ever read,

I wish I could speak to the nightingale once,
I would have asked her to sing a song for me this night
I wish, it would rain now,
Something frozen in my throat, might too get washed away

I pray to this night, when you leave, take me with you,
For, I never want to see those morning rays again.
