The Leaves Have Fallen Poem by Dustin Moriston

The Leaves Have Fallen

The leaves have fallen,
and the flowers have all died.
Your heart was destroyed,
so my shame I must hide.

You gave me your love,
and I used it as a tool.
You were innocent as a dove,
but I made you a fool.

You stood beside me,
and I knocked you down.
You lifted me up,
and I put you to the ground.

You had enough,
but I didn't care.
That's when you left,
for no more crosses to bare.

I said I was right.
I knew I was wrong.
I said I was sorry,
but you've heard THAT song.

It was hard to do,
but I changed my life.
The strength I found
came from my wife.
