In his life
He had made many great achievements
He shared vows with a wonderful woman
And helped raise five beautiful children.
His children grew up
And began their own lives
And from that point on
He took great care of his loving wife.
Throughout the years
He had eight grandchildren
And he was so grateful for
Their love and attention.
Words can not describe
The love that he gave
Nor did he let us know
The days he was afraid
In the great mid-year
Of two thousands and one
One granddaughter had a baby girl
And one granddaughter had a beautiful son
He cherished them deeply
He showed them how to have fun
And before he knew it
Along came another one
Another baby girl
For this man to enjoy
And another year later
Another beautiful boy
Four great grandchildren
So very close to his heart
The thought never crossed his mind
That soon they would have to part
As we all sat in his hospital room
Waiting for him to arise
I looked around the room
And everyone had tears in their eyes
Thinking of all the great memories
We all had shared with this man
It became clear that he would son be gone
And we all got one last chance to hold his hand
As the clock ticked and the hours passed
On his well accomplished life
We well all take over for him
By taking care of his loving wife
We're all hanging in there
Or at least doing the best we can
For this is not just a story
This is the life of a wonderful man
