The Little Boy Who Played The Knight Poem by Jordan Couso

The Little Boy Who Played The Knight

He was looking down with murmured words,
and things would leave him alone along with the birds.
He had no point, carefree in his mind,
still he signed.

There in the midst of concrete ramble she flew,
asking for deliverance a helping hand from who?
Her story was all too sad,
wrought with abuse and the mad.

The little boy saw the cause, ran home and prepared his thoughts
since that day the fire was made, kindled gently by the passion that stayed.
Day in and day out he did trials slew beasts for her,
Not once was he thanked or given a token still he endured.

Their time grew short, and when all her monsters were slain
he asked her and she buried his flame.
The little boy grew dark again wallowing in pain,
for twice his played the part of hero, in its glory and gain.

He was foolish enough to take her to his coronation in front of the king,
there she used him to mingle within her means.
He grew tired of the games and soon he left her in her shame,
after weeks went on no message from her no courier that singed.

The boy again feeling lonely sought her affection, just to see his feeling being reflected.
She had no time but would make things right, when she is in her prime.
Now the boy has no idea whats to come, nor does he have the patience to keep from.
The man now walks across the land
No longer in sorrow's hand.

He cares not for her no more, for now all types of damsels are coming to his shore
Still the pain is hold, deep down in his soul.
Of the girl that never gave thanks,
that he showed her how to smile again and that was not frank.

Now you would say the little boy was a foolish chew toy,
that had its purpose and played coy.
But I say without her way,
this boy would have never become the man he is today.

Now the Knight rides on slaying beasts and conquering hearts,
never breaking but mending as if it was an art.
Godspeed fare knight, you ride now to your own story,
there your legend begins with honor filled with glory.

Well done poem, thanks for writing. I am sure that boy thanked her many times over for him to become a knight; but coming in he knew he would be toiled around for awhile by the devilish girl. Now since he was knighted, he has to leave her alone to go do battle for his King.
