The Little Girl Poem by Owen Cullimore

The Little Girl

The little girls open's out the window
To see the sunshine late at night
Is it her Guardian Angel she wonder's
Or has mummy come back tonight

She lost her mummy some years ago
Who on her deathbed swore she would return one day
As an Angel just to see her
So she was to watch for a strange light to come her way

She so much wanted her mummy's hand to guide her
Now she was growing older by the day
So as to lead her down life's pathway
Every which a way

Mummy is that you I see before me
Causing such a pretty sight
It's as though the Sun is shining
And you are caught up in its rays tonight

Suddenly a hand appeared from nowhere
And grasped the little girls real tight
She felt a kiss upon her cheek
Not scared, it felt so right

Just the way her mummy used to do
Before she went away
She saw the face she recognized
She had lived with everyday

I will always love my little Princess
So sorry I had to leave
But I will always be with you
You no longer need to grieve

The light then gently faded, her heart was full of joy and sadness
For now she knew mummy was always by her side to hold her hand
She would no longer miss her and said goodnight Mummy, God Bless
I will see you later in the Promised Land
