By the roadside
My steps I leave behind
I sweat
Sweat that runs down my shirt
Like rain trickling down the roof
I'm at the mercy of the eye of heaven
Carrying the load of life
My footsteps keep pushing me
Into the hurdles of time
And thoughts of my scattered home
Of my ribs and loins
Draws tears from my eyes
As red as blood
Soaked in the mixture of blood and sweat
I'm on a one-way road
Of disappointment and fear
And all that is left in me
Is the thought of this road
Leading onto another
Which I bow down my head
And wish it will lead me
Into a different world
Far from here
But not so far that
Witnesses will not see me
In new Jerusalem
