The Loner's Almanac Poem by Joe Cosmos

The Loner's Almanac

A beautiful day it was today
The Warm sun warmed and shone upon us all day
İ recall the sounds of birds chirping when i woke up
As if they were hatched just yesterday evening
Hmm… It was an amazing day for a lone like me
To go out and enjoy all the amenities he sees
A perfect day indeed, I found a bench around the bus stop, sat down and watched those couples kiss
It ıs truly a wonderful spectacle to notice how I am of no significance at all
I am no one, able to do nothing and having no meaning to anyone at all
Just the man sitting over there staring in an odd way
As Casey and George Sheenah troll gleefully away
My Casey—you ask? No. No. I never had a Casey
Just 42 years old, all I know is Scotch and Whiskey
A couple prostitutes- Mira and Mary
Oh yes and my good shepherd dog Buckie
Yup… May God Bless Allah for these gifts of mine
You still think I'm a loner? Sad that the only opinion that matters is mine
I am not a poet and making these rhymes are actually wasting me
So I will just go ahead and say my thoughts no matter what you may think of me
A pedophile was also once a child and a murderer may once have been a someone
What you do is what matters is what they all seem to say
What matters is what they think of what you do I say
I am kind, curious, and a child inside I keep saying
Look at the old, depressed hag they keep yelling
Ahhhhh.….how about I just stop it here now
Really felt good while it lasted, anyhow…..
