The Lore Of A Spider Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

The Lore Of A Spider

It is the lore of a spider to make a trap.
Why is it that people want to control others?
Do they also live as spiders do?
Spinning webs to ensnare others
And feel it is them who are in control
I do not wish to live as others do.

But I am treated with suspicion and contempt.
People are like scorpions given the opportunity.
They'll bite and sting you and be done with you.
Like they aren't the ones trapped in a web.
Invited, they can spin their webs in my doorway
Because I am neither confined to stay nor go
I am the fly that puts no bars around its home.
