The Lost Gods Poem by aritro .................

The Lost Gods

My gods deserted me when i needed them,
Some became old enough to bless, some too rusty
And the others migrated-to cosier homes, cars and sweeter
Chocolates that other followers offered.

My gods have forgotten me when i remember them,
Most through orgies of unlearning the learnt,
Being hated by those I loved and growing
Even as the walls all around collapse.

My gods are not to be seen or heard now, or perhaps
Eyes blinded by dazzling white-hot pain,
Ears padded with the echo of the past
Fail to trace their shadows that remain to be hugged.
