The Lotus And The Mire Poem by Songs for Stephanie

The Lotus And The Mire

how much energy it takes
to be so callous
so cold
though every machine
has its efficiency - its coal
with hardlined goals
to be greedy,
you sold
the girl within
and her clarion soul
for the sweat of salt
the eminates from your skin
for the thrill of salt
that comes from mans within

like the lotus beneath the filth and the mire
brighter than the phoenix that comes from the fire
unlike the lotus, when all has transpired
because, young lass, as time does expire
your course, of course does inspire
the mud, the filth and the mire
with the scent that wafts with greeds sole desire
that disappears with distance, not far but surely higher

i'll tell you now
it's sweet and it's sour
i like the distance
i'll miss the flower.
