The Love I Lost Poem by Natasa To

The Love I Lost

The Love I Lost

I lost you once,
but somehow,
I lose you every day—
in quiet rooms,
in empty mornings,
in all the words
I never got to say.

You were the warmth
inside my coldest nights,
the hand I reached for
when the world felt wrong,
the reason even broken days
could still feel like
they belonged.

Now your name
lives softly in my heart,
a whisper time
could never erase.
I see your shadow
in familiar places,
but never again
will I see your face.

They say that time
will teach the heart to heal,
but some wounds
don't disappear.
They simply become
a part of who we are—
a silent ache,
a love that lingers here.

If loving you
was the greatest gift,
then losing you
was my deepest pain.
And if I had one life
to live all over again,
I'd still choose you—
even knowing
I'd lose you in the end.
