The Love Pleas Of A Coy Lad Poem by Ahmad Savage

The Love Pleas Of A Coy Lad

I play with thee I smile with thee
Yet thou saith I love thee not
We have come too far for this to cut
I am only shy but I do love thee
If only now you can think like me
That kisses and all is not just all
And that what I feel within this heart
Will fill this earth and drown us all
Then you shall know I do love thee
If I should hold thee around thy hips
I will tremble so much I will faint to death
And if I should bend o'er to kiss thy lips
In fear and coyness I'll soil my pants
But that doth not mean I love thee not
Aye all that's in my heart shall not be said
Just like the dove in my hat shall ere be in't
Else my trade be lost for less than a penny.
Yet I shall not trick thee as I trick the crowd
For thou art the princess that makes me proud.
Anon accept my pleas and wipe thy tears
I shall fight my coyness and all my fears
And kiss thy rosy lips ere Lammastide
