The Life Of This World Poem by Ahmad Savage

The Life Of This World

The simplest charity is to smile
And to smile all the while
The shortest time is our life
Thus we should plan the way we live it

Life itself is a pity
But most men know not
And spend all of it partying
Wasting the time they've got

Man has ears but he is deaf
He can only hear but himself
Man has eyes but cannot see
Yet foresight has even a bee

Life twirls no different from a day
To live in this day there is a way
It takes a lot of brain to see life as it is
And for a man to know life is not really his

Just as it was given to him
So it shall one day be taken
Then he would wonder: had it been a dream?
Then he would regret why he had forsaken

Living a good life in this ever tempting world
Which is only tempt-less to those who are bold
Who can tell it is fake and dark
Even without seeing its trademark

If we look at how time travels
Then we'd ne'er e'er marvel
But we'll all be able to see the truth about this world
Just as clear as the truth that we will one day get old
