The Man Poem by Lasabrea Hutchison

The Man

The first time that I saw you
I couldn't understand
How a man so brave and strong
Could cry in just one hand
How a man with so much power
Could sweet talk quite so well
How a heart of solid rock
Could let a ray of sunshine in
How a man with so much force
Could touch the skin so soft
How a love so hard to find
Was sitting beneath mine
How long I've sat and waited
For the love you send my way
Love grows where you let it
And always will it stay
How a sweet smile of love
Has replaced the darkside frown
When a man who'd let no one in
Opened the door to love once more!
