The Man In The Doorway - Poem by Alma Jean Epps

The man in the doorway has tears in his eyes
It was not what he wanted when he said goodbye
Back into a world that she could not understand
He was her love, her Saudi Arabian man
No one ever loved anyone more
Her world ended when he walked out the door
All she has left is her dreams
She still waits for his return knowing full well that it may never be
Lost in a dream, no way to escape
Why did she have to give up so much
When it was every woman's dream
The kind of love no words can describe
With every heartbeat cries out his name
He was everything she ever wanted and more
Sometimes there are reasons for what we have to do
It was wonderful while it lasted just being with you
My memory of you will always be mine
Maybe in another life, another time
I will never forget and always love
The man in the doorway with the tears in his eyes
