The Mandatory Walk Poem by THE HOLY POET

The Mandatory Walk

Walking away's now mandatory or so my big mate says
And it seems the last have done just that, over Govan way
Whittaker's now with Norwich who'll face us at Paradise
Lafferty's with the yodelling Swiss and singing Edelweiss.

It's just like him to sign for them; he's gone from cheats to cheats
But unlike Govan's blue brigade, they show their gate receipts,
Three days ago they said "we're off", with sorrow on their brows
And left a squad, mainly kids, what will they do now?

Their idols have deserted them but where do you lay the blame
Mistrust and better offers meant, at least they'll get a game
Green has turned to his friend Zeus, get the other guys
But the investors he's relying on were telling bloody lies!

Promises on promises, the fans have heard this all before
Brown will lead the fans revolt against the current board
No chance of 19 signings, who'll sign when they don't know
As to who, where, when and if they play, it's The Ibrox Puppet Show.

I don't blame the fans for this or for snubbing season books
The culprits are past managers, a shower of bloody crooks
And what of poor wee Greenie, he stepped up to the plate,
Sold the ground and Murray Park and bolted shut their gate!
